How the Scam Works

  1. Fake Booking Confirmation: The email looks like it’s from a trusted company—Expedia, Delta, Marriott—with logos, correct formatting, and urgent subject lines like:
    • “Your Trip to Miami Has Been Confirmed! Click Here for Details”
    • “Your Flight Itinerary Has Changed – Click Here for Updates”
  2. You Click the Link: It takes you to a convincing fake website that prompts you to log in, update payment info, or download your itinerary.
  3. Hackers Steal Your Info: Once you enter your credentials or payment details, hackers have them. If the link contains malware, your device could be compromised.
